Institut Universitaire de France

IUF Members

The Institut Universitaire de France's mission is to foster the development of high-level research in universities and to reinforce interdisciplinarity, by pursuing three objectives:

  1. Encourage institutions and research professors to achieve excellence in research, with the positive consequences that can be expected on teaching, training of young researchers and, more generally, the dissemination of knowledge.
  2. Contribute to the feminization of the research sector.
  3. Contribute to a balanced distribution of university research in the country, and therefore to a policy of scientific networking of the territory.

Since its creation, UCCS counts 4 IUF members

Distinguished Members

The title of "Junior Distinguished Member" is awarded to a researcher, an industrialist or a teacher, a member of the SCF who is less than 45 years old, who is at the origin of works representing a significant advance in one of the fields of chemistry or who has demonstrated significant action in the industrial field or in the field of chemistry teaching or its dissemination. He or she must have made a significant contribution to the life of the chemistry community: SCF, of course, but also CNU, CoNRS, Olympiades ....

The title of "Distinguished Member" is awarded to a researcher, industry or teacher, a member of the CFS aged 45 and over, who has demonstrated excellence in the field of chemistry and contributed to its expansion. He or she must also have made a very significant contribution to the Société Chimique de France.

Since its creation, UCCS counts 8 SCF distinguished members.

Prix Constellium

Annual prize following the Pechiney Prize created in 1986, the Constellium prize is awarded without condition of nationality to a researcher aged over 50, with an international reputation and whose work, fundamental or applied, concerns any scientific field that could contribute to the progress in the aluminum processing industry (design, properties and applications of materials, processes, implementation technologies, recycling) or, more broadly, general knowledge of metallurgy and innovations in the sciences of the engineer associated with the production or use of metallic materials that may be useful to this industry. After collecting suggestions from various organizations and personalities, the Academy awards the prize on the proposal of a commission composed of members of the Academy of Sciences and Members of the Academy of Technology.

The 2014 Prix Constellium was awarded to Thierry Loiseau.

CNRS Bronze Medal

The CNRS Bronze Medal recognizes a researcher's first work, which makes that person a specialist with talent in a particular field. This medal is a way for the CNRS to encourage the researcher to continue work that has met with initial success and already produced fruitful results.

The CNRS Bronze Medal was attributed by the Institute of Chemistry of CNRS to Dr Houria Kabbour in 2015 and Dr Vitaly Ordomsky (now at E2P2 in Shanghai) in 2018.

"Les Etoiles de l'Europe" (Stars of Europe) Prize

The "Stars of Europe" reward coordinators of European research and innovation projects supported by a French organization.

They honor men and women who have made the choice of Europe, shown the ability of French teams to assert themselves as leader of major networks and helped strengthen the influence of France in Europe and on the international scene.

The "Stars of Europe" Prize was given to Prof. Franck Dumeignil, coordinator of the EuroBioRef project, by Geneviève Fioraso, Secretary of State for Higher Education and Research, and Harlem Désir, Secretary of State for European Affairs during a ceremony at the Museum of Quai Branly, December 16, 2014.
