Créée en septembre 2006, l’équipe VAALBIO comprend dix permanents, une quinzaine de doctorants et une dizaine de post-doctorants. Nos activités portent sur la valorisation catalytique avancée de la biomasse pour les bioraffineries ainsi que sur une utilisation rationalisée des ressources fossiles. Nous intégrons des compétences en catalyse hétérogène et enzymatique, en génie des procédés et des réacteurs et en criblage catalytique haut débit pour la valorisation d’hydrocarbures légers (C1 à C4), de molécules plateformes bio-sourcées issues de la filière lignocellulosique et oléagineuse (C1 à C6) ainsi que du CO2 et du hydrogène. Notre forte activité partenariale donne lieu à l’octroi de licences sur brevets et a permis la création de la startup TEAMCAT Solutions. Nous développons en outre une activité fondamentale originale, avec, notamment, des travaux pionniers en catalyse hybride mêlant chemo- et biocatalyse dans un même réacteur.
