Origin from Germany, Benjamin Katryniok performed his undergraduate and graduate studies in Marburg and RWTH Aachen, before he moved in 2007 to Lille (France) for his PhD in the laboratory for Catalysis and Solid State Chemistry (UCCS). After his PhD he was given a lecturer position at Ecole Centrale de Lille, one of the leading engineering schools in France. In 2012, he became Assistant Professor. His main research area is heterogeneous catalysis for the upgrading of biomass to high-value intermediates for the chemical industry.
