Institutes for Energy Transition - Instituts pour la Transition Energétique - ITE

The Energy Transition Institutes (ITEs) are interdisciplinary platforms in the field of low-carbon energy, bringing together the skills of industry and public research. This action has a global envelope of 1 billion euros in the PIA to constitute a small number of technological innovation campuses, able to acquire a global dimension in the energy and climate sectors. Nine ITEs were selected by an international jury after two calls for projects (2011 and 2012).

UCCS participates in two of them: PIVERT and IFMAS.

PIVERT

 

 

At the interface between academic research and industry, the Institute for Energy Transition P.I.V.E.R.T. aims to develop a competitive plant chemistry using a renewable and promising raw material: oleaginous biomass. ITE P.I.V.E.R.T. is the first European center for the recovery of the entire oilseed plant in renewable chemicals and energy. The project aims to create a true industrial ecosystem: by-products of certain activities are used as raw materials by others, while energy, water and waste are recycled.

SAS PIVERT, created in 2012, is in charge of the ITE P.I.V.E.R.T. Its strategy revolves around four main axes: research (GENESYS); development and demonstration (BIOGIS center); industrialization (MATURATION projects); skills and teaching.

The UCCS participates in several projects obtained through internal tenders in the GENESYS program of ITE P.I.V.E.R.T. They will soon be described below.

 

IFMAS

 

 

IFMAS, is an R & D company created in 2012 and based on a public-private partnership. It offers services in the fields of materials and plant chemistry. The goal of IFMAS is to develop an industrial sector of excellence from the transformation of plants to the production and implementation of biosourced plastics, composites, coatings and paints.

IFMAS designs, develops and promotes technological bricks with high added value in the fields of plant breeding and seed creation, the valorization of plant resins and the synthesis of functional molecules and technical polymers. Its research programs also focus on the formulation and implementation of products developed under application conditions representative of industrial practice.

UCCS participates in several projects obtained through internal calls for tenders from ITE IFMAS. They will soon be described below.
