Research activities
In charge of the “Solid state group and the "Oxide materials for energy” team at UCCS.
Our research activity deals with the characterisation of new oxide ion conductors. As dense ceramics, these materials could be used in Solid Oxide Fuel Cells or Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cell, as membrane for the electrochemical separation of oxygen from air, as sensors, as catalytic membrane reactors. Mixed conductors will be developed as electrode materials. One of our main concerns is the understanding of the mechanism of oxygen transport in these ceramics from the microscopic to the macroscopic scales.
X-ray diffraction, Raman scattering, large facilities (neutrons, synchrotron), thermal analyses (TGA, DTA, DSC, dilatometry), impedance spectroscopy, voltametry, isotope exchange combined with SIMS, 17O NMR, are among the techniques we used for the characterisation.
We have collaborations with numerous teams. Among these: CEA, EDF, PSA, IMN-Nantes, LECIME ENSC-Paris, LEPMI-Grenoble, IRCE-Lyon, SCR-Rennes, Ecole Centrale de Paris, the department of Materials at Imperial College London, University college London, the University of St-Andrews (UK), Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), University of Craiova (Roumania), University of Twente (Netherland), University of Shanghai (China), the Universidad Industrial de Santander in Colombia …
